What Dedicated Server Management options do you provide?

Dedicated Server is a physical machine with all the resources reserved for your usage. Since you have the entire server to yourself, it allows you to set up different Operating Systems (OSes) and provides you with the customized control and dedicated resources for your website.
With Dedicated server you will get a certain level of control over your server and its management depending on the management type you choose.

We have 3 types of Dedicated Server Management options:

User-Responsible

Basic

Complete

 
Let’s review each of the types closer and check the difference among them and the options included.

       

User-Responsible


Price: Free
Requirements: No special requirements

User-Responsible is a type of management selected by default.
This type suggests almost no technical assistance from our side so you will have full control and responsibility on your server and its management.
We recommend this option to those who have a technical background and are familiar with managing and configuring servers on their own.  It is a good variant for those, who want to have total control on the server and manage their hosting server and software themselves.
If you own with Namecheap more than one dedicated server with User-Responsible management type, you can request to set up a private network from our TechSup team - such assistance is provided at no additional charge.

User-Responsible Management includes:

  • Initial server setup and configuration
  • Detection and resolution of hardware issues
  • Full root access
  • IPMI access

For Restore Server Failure (refers to server reboot), the price is $10.00 flat rate per each restore.

Core Software Changes (refers to OS reinstallation, software version changes, etc. not supported by Namecheap), the pricing is as follows:

1 hour – $20.00 flat rate
More than 1 hour – $10.00/hour

Fix Server Failure Cause (where our Tech Support investigates the root cause of a server failing), the pricing is as follows:

1 hour – $20.00 flat rate
More than 1 hour – $10.00/hour


Basic


Price: $20.00/month
Requirements: cPanel control panel with AlmaLinux or Cloudlinux OS

With this type of dedicated server management, you will get basic management support for your server.  
 Here, core services under Basic are monitored by Namecheap with a proactive response if unexpected server failure occurs. So, whenever you require any support related to the basic server support and its functioning or processing, our Tech Support will help you.
If you have more than one dedicated server with this type of management, you can request to set up a private network from our TechSup team - such assistance is provided at no additional charge.

 Basic Management includes:

  • Fixing of unplanned service interruption without root cause analysis
  • Vendor updates (license and OS updates)
  • Support for core server services (Apache, Exim, MySQL, FTP, cPanel, DNS)
  • Server health aspects monitoring (load, disk space, traffic)
  • Full root access
  • IPMI access

Core Software Changes
(refers to OS reinstallation, software version changes, etc. not supported by Namecheap), the pricing is as follows:

1 hour – $15.00 flat rate
More than 1 hour – $10.00/hour

For Fix Server Failure Cause (where our Tech Support investigates the root cause of a server failing), the pricing is as follows:

1 hour – free
2 hours – $15.00 flat rate
More than 2 hours – $10.00/hour


Complete


Price: $50.00/month
Requirements: cPanel control panel on AlmaLinux or CloudLinux OS, with at least 2 Disk Drives and RAID Technology

Unlike Basic type, with the Complete one, Namecheap runs and manages the A-Z of server services, software, and its components.
This allows you to do more with your hosting than trying to manage your own servers. As all the technical issues will be maintained by our Technical experts, you can concentrate on your business through your website and we will take care of the server’s settings.

Complete Management includes:

  • Core software changes
  • Incident root cause fix
  • Weekly backups to an offsite backup server (200 GB for Entry and Medium and 500 GB for Advanced Level Dedicated Servers)    
  • WHM and cPanel Super User (Reseller Level Access)
  • CSF - "config server firewall" installation and configuration, white- and black-listing
  • SSH - custom configs and security settings
  • SSL certificate setup
  • Firewall configurations
  • PHP handler and PHP limits setup
  • Server health aspects monitoring (load, disk space, traffic)
  • Priority support                                                                             

PLEASE NOTE:
  • With Complete Management, you are only given reseller level access. This does not include privileges for root, reboot, and IPMI access. Since our Tech Support team will be fully monitoring your Dedicated Server, they will have root access.
  • Taking into account the limited offsite backup storage we can guarantee one weekly backup copy only if the size of your accounts fits into the allocated limit. In case of insufficient disk space on the offsite backup storage, we will attempt to make the server backup locally on your server and notify you about the lack of disk space via email so that you can delete unnecessary files.
  • We do not assist with the third-party software installation since we do not provide its further support and updates.
