Sometimes you may face a situation when your expired credit card assigned to your Namecheap account is automatically charged by our system.
If you receive a notification that your expired credit card was charged, please check your bank account statement first. Credit card issuers (banks) can send regular updates to our payment processor regarding credit cards used in our system. Thus, if our system tries to charge your expired credit card, the payment processor can receive the information about the updated credit card or charge your bank account.
In case our processor is notified of an update to your credit card details, the credit card information might be automatically updated in your Namecheap profile as well. However, we cannot guarantee that these details will be updated automatically, so we strongly recommend that you keep your credit card information up-to-date.
Detailed instructions on how to update your credit card details can be found here.
In case you do not want to have some of your domains renewed, make sure auto-renew is disabled for these domain names.
If you have any further questions regarding your credit card charges, please contact our Billing team via Live Chat or email us to billing@namecheap.com.
