Steps to transfer your domain to Spaceship:

1. Prepare your domain for transfer

Before transfer submission, you will need to unlock the domain and receive an authorization code. Please follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Log in to your Namecheap account.
2. Select Domain List from the menu in the left sidebar.
3. Click Manage next to the domain you wish to get the authorization code for.
4. Select the Sharing & Transfer tab.
5. At the bottom of this page, click Unlock and Auth code.
6. Specify the reason you are transferring out and then click Send Code. The authorization code will be sent to the domain registrant via email.

2. Submit the order on Spaceship

Once the domain is prepared, feel free to initiate the process from Spaceship homepage by clicking on the Transfer tab and typing the desired domain into the search field. If you have many domains, you can activate the Bulk Transfer mode:

Once you click the Transfer button, it is necessary to provide the authorization code(s).

Continuing with this intuitive process, you can enable/disable the auto-renewal option, specify a coupon code, if any, and choose your preferred payment method.

The transfer price includes a one-year renewal of the domain. After the transfer, a year will be added to the current expiration date of the domain, and you will not lose the current term with your registrar.

NOTE: If your domain has expired with your previous registrar and you've reactivated it (renewed after expiration) with them, please do not transfer it within 45 days of the previous expiration date. According to ICANN, the domain will be renewed for 1 year by the new registrar, but the reactivation year added to your domain by the previous registrar will be revoked. You may also lose renewal fees paid to the previous registrar.

Finally, click Pay now button to initiate order processing. At this stage, the transfer process will begin.

3. Downtime prevention

To minimize the downtime of associated services with the domain, you can pre-configure host records on Spaceship nameservers or initiate DNS import on the Transfer Manager or Advanced DNS pages:

Once the domain transfer is complete, the nameservers will be switched to Spaceship ones, with pre-configured records already in place.

4. Approve the transfer

According to the ICANN transfer policy, transfers are automatically approved 5 calendar days after transfer initiation by the Registry.

However, it is possible to speed up the process at Namecheap and release your domain name sooner via the transfer-out notification (Standardized Form Of Authorization), which will be sent to the email address of the domain registrant.

Once the transfer is approved, you can manage the domain in your Spaceship account within a couple of minutes.
