FAQ - Transfer of Russian customers services from Namecheap

Why did Namecheap decide to stop providing services to customers in Russia?

Due to the Russian regime's war crimes and human rights violations in Ukraine, we will no longer be providing services to users registered in Russia. While we sympathize that this war may not affect your own views or opinion on the matter, civilians in Ukraine are being bombed, attacked and murdered by Russian forces.

Have my domains been suspended?

No, Namecheap has not suspended any domains since informing you of this change to our policy. We are asking you to transfer your domains, and move your hosting or email services from our platform to a different provider of your choice.
Impacted customers domains are still active and we are simply instructing that you transfer them out before March 22, 2022.

What happens after 22 March, 2022?

After this date, domains that have not been transferred to another registrar, will be suspended and reside within users’ accounts, but will not be functional. If you decide to transfer your domain after March 22, 2022, we will unlock it for you to be able to conduct the transfer. Hosting and Private Email services that have not been moved, will be canceled.
If you are using our products and services for anti-war purposes, you can inform us, and at our discretion may whitelist your domain for you to be able to continue using our services.

What do I do if my domain has the 60-day lock enabled after registration or transfers?

If your domain was registered or transferred to Namecheap less than 60 days ago, they cannot be transferred out due to the general restriction assigned by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to generic top-level domains (gTLDs).
These domains will not be suspended on March 22, 2022. We will allow you 2 weeks after the lock is removed to prepare for and transfer the domains to another Registrar.
