How to connect a domain to HostGator
To connect your Namecheap domain with a HostGator account, you should first get your HostGator nameservers.
HostGator sends a Welcome email for each hosting package purchase. The nameserver information is found in a Welcome email and Customer Portal. Shared hosting customers can also check their HostGator nameservers in their cPanel.
Once the nameservers are found, you can make the necessary changes in your Namecheap account. Here’s how:
2. Select Domain List from the left sidebar and click on the Manage button next to your domain name:
3. Select the Custom DNS option from the drop-down for Nameservers and enter your Custom nameservers (you see in your HostGator account) into the fields. Once done, make sure you click on the green checkmark to save the changes:
It may take 24-48 hours for DNS changes to take effect.
NOTE: If you had an email service or other DNS records set, you would need to re-configure them on the HostGator's side.
