On July 8, 2024, Private Email will officially drop support for TLS 1.0/1.1 protocols.
Reason for change:
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is the most widely deployed security protocol used today for Web browsers and other applications that require data to be securely exchanged over a network.
TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 are very old standards having severe security vulnerabilities and hence only TLS 1.2/1.3 are considered to be safe. Widely used web browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox and MS browsers have already started dropping support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 since January 2020.
What is the impact?
After July 8, 2024 if your system is not TLS 1.2/1.3 compliant, this system will not be allowed to make a connection to Private Email web service. Here’s the list of affected systems:

Actions required:
To prevent any disruption in accessing Private Email web service post the set deadline (July 8, 2024), please make sure that your web browser or mobile OS is upgraded to one of the latest stable versions that support TLS 1.2/1.3:
- For web browsers: IE11+, Edge 12+, Chrome 29+, Firefox 27+, Safari 7+
- For mobile:
- iOS 5 or greater
- Android OS 5 (Lollipop) or greater
