CES 2023: 9 tech innovations for your business
The new year started with the biggest and the most influential tech and innovations event in the world — Consumer Electronic Show (CES). And of course, as a true tech geek, I couldn’t leave this event unnoticed.
Every year different tech companies — from tech giants like Samsung, Sony, and LG to promising startups no one has heard of (yet!) — gather in Las Vegas to showcase some incredible new products and ideas that show off the state of technology today, and where it’s heading in the future.
As you might expect, this year at the show were lots of gadgets for gaming and virtual reality, as well as new car tech and watches. Everyone is talking about LG’s 97-inch wireless TV and BMW iVision Dee concept color-changing car, which has 32 colors you can deploy in whatever pattern you like. But I won’t be talking about those.
Instead, I wanted to scope out the different tech from CES to see if I could find anything that could be useful to busy small business owners. This is what I found.
CES roundup
First up is the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. With its fancy dual-screen design, you can finally attend that Zoom call with your client on one screen while simultaneously taking notes on the other. Imagine impressing your clients with your multitasking skills, as you can read reports and update your spreadsheets all at the same time.
Then we have the MSI Pen 2, a stylus that works both on paper and touchscreens, bridging the gap between traditional writing surfaces and digital ones. With tilt control, 4,096 levels of sensitivity, and haptic feedback, this stylus offers a highly accurate writing experience. Plus, the battery life of up to 10 hours, with a charge time of just five minutes, makes it a great choice for small business owners on the go.
Next, we have the SeeMo (get it?) HDMI adapter by Accsoon. This little guy lets you use your iPad or iPhone as a monitor for your video camera. That’s right, no more squinting at that tiny LCD screen. Just hook up your phone, and you’re good to go. This is a must-have for small business owners in the video production industry.
For all you small business owners who are always looking for ways to stay active while you work, check out the eKinekt BD 3 from Acer. This desk doubles as an exercise bike, so you can pedal your way to success and charge your devices while you work. It’s got multiple USB ports, a bag hook, and a beverage holder, meaning you can stay hydrated while you work (out).
If you’re often on camera and have difficulty applying makeup, you’ll definitely want to check out the HAPTA by L’Oreal. This handheld gadget steadies hand movements, making it easier for differently-abled people to apply makeup. With this tool, you’ll be able to look your best in a fraction of the time.
For those of you who work in construction or just have a tendency to drop your phone, you’ll want to check out D30’s non-Neutonian fluid product. It’s naturally shock-absorbent, so it’s perfect for safety equipment and other applications. Trust me, your phone will thank you.
Ergo AV’s standing desk is perfect for small business owners who are tired of being chained to their chairs and want to promote a more active lifestyle in the workplace. With the ability to adjust to a wide range of heights and a built-in hub with USB-A and USB-C ports, this desk is like a Swiss Army knife for your office needs. Plus, it can be lowered far enough for small children, so you can turn your business into a family fun zone.
The AirFuel Alliance, which includes Samsung, Huawei, and wireless power companies, announced AirFuel RF, the first global interoperable standard for RF wireless power transfer. It will take a while, but once this rolls out widely, you’ll be able to charge your small devices like earbuds, smartwatches, and other wearables wirelessly. Nicola Tesla would be proud.
And finally, for small business owners who can’t function without a cup of coffee, meet your new best friend, the Adam robot by Richtech Robotics. This interactive two-armed robot is like having a barista, personal chef, and a butler all rolled into one. It can perform a variety of tasks, including brewing your morning cup of joe and preparing your favorite breakfast sandwich. With Adam, you’ll never have to leave your desk for a caffeine fix or a snack again.

The “ergo vs” link doesn’t work, but the article was enjoyable to read and informative.
